24th September 2007
Dear Parish Councillor Bantoft PARISH POLL I am writing to you in your capacity as Chair of the Parish Council to inform you that a Parish Poll will be taking place on the 11th of October at the Jubilee Hall between 4 & 9PM. The question posed will be “Do you want wind turbines built on land within or surrounding the Parish of Marshland St James”. For your information I have enclosed a letter from the Borough Council confirming that the Parish Poll is legitimate and all correct procedures have been followed. I understand that there has been some questions asked about the validity of the Poll from “persons unknown” who obviously want to prevent it from happening, We can only speculate as to their reasons for this! However if we are ever able to discover the identity of these “saboteurs” you can be sure that their names and actions will be made very public – our local parishioners will probably be very interested to know who is conducting such a campaign of subterfuge which I am sure you must agree is against the best interest of the Parish. As you probably know more about Parish Council procedures that anyone in this Parish, it is possible that you may be approached by these “persons unknown” for an opinion about the validity of the Parish Poll. I trust that in the light of the enclosed letter from the Borough Council you will set them straight about such matters and inform them that it is valid and will be going ahead. I have also not yet received a reply to my letter of the 18th September and have therefore enclosed another copy just in case the original was lost in the post. I have also enclosed an e-mail from and to Borough Councillor Markinson that may be of interest to you.
