Fenland Landscape Against Turbines

The Marshland Wind Factory
The Generation of Energy or Subsidies?

Dear Resident of Marshland St James,

I am very sorry to hear that your community and its environment is about to be Turbinised Industrialised and Hi-Jacked by the Wind Industry. The impact on local landscape skyline, wildlife and people is echoed nationally as this vandalisation of our rural way of life gathers momentum.

It is acknowledged that wind is one of the most expensive ways of generating electricity, so why has Marshland been targeted by these “Jolly green giants” of industry?

BBC Look East recently suggested to a very indignant wind developer, “is this a licence to print money?” this was of course denied by our man in green, the report did, however, contain some interesting facts about the profitability of wind factories, please note these developments are not farms!

The Marshland Renewable Energy Consortium proposes to install 26 130 mt wind turbines with associated access roads and control buildings, method of grid connection unknown.

Each turbine will cost approximately 1.8 million pounds (£1,800,000) to manufacture and install, multiplied by 26 = 46.8 million pounds total installation cost.

Each turbine will return an annual profit (editor note: annual subsidies) of £240,000; this multiplied x 26 = 6.240 million pounds (£6,240,000) year on year for the owners.

After a commissioned life of 25 years the Marshland Wind Factory will show a profit of a staggering 156 million pounds (£156,000,000), and the most nauseating aspect of this grotesque amount is the amount that taxpayers have to pay by way of subsidies almost 70% in one form or another.

So now we have it, a landscape destroyed, a bitter community, life investment destroyed (house blight) and disruption of our local environment and wildlife.

It has been known for many years that wind power is a negative way to produce energy, and because it swallows up over 95% of total renewable budgets, it effectively starves other renewable and much more efficient and less damaging technologies of development, it is now being suggested that this situation actually means that wind turbines contributes to climate change.

Your local environment belongs to all and it needs protecting now!
