Wind Turbine VideosShadow FlickerThe braking mechanism that limits the speed of the wind turbine broke during a storm in Denmark. This was the outcome. 02/22-2008. With California's ambitious renewable energy goal, the state needs wind power. But California's largest wind farm cluster at Altamont Pass unintentionally kills golden eagles, burrowing owls and other threatened birds. Now, wind companies, scientists and environmentalists are working to bird-proof these massive wind farms. Whilst we do not have such birds here, we do have a number of owls, kestrels, bats and other birds which could be effected. Part 1 of a documentary of a wind farm operating in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. This film is useful to watch because the topography is similar to the topography in Stamford, and the turbines are close to the size that Invenergy is proposing. This wind farm was completed in 2001, and this film consists of interviews with residents who have been living with the turbines for 5 years. Part Two Part Three Residents of Tug Hill, NY talk about their experiences of living with large-scale wind turbines. |
