PRESS RELEASE 13th MAY 2007
FLAT to hold another public meeting FLAT (Fenland Landscape Against Turbines), the action group set up to oppose the Marshland St James wind turbine “factory” proposal will be holding another public meeting at 7PM on the 18th of May 2007 at Tilney St Lawrence village hall. This will be an opportunity for all of those who attended our last meeting at Marshland Jubilee Hall to be updated on developments and find out how they can be actively involved in opposing the plans. For those who did not attend our last meeting, this will be their chance to find out what an adverse impact this wind turbine “factory” could have on them both personally and their local community and landscape. FLAT have been consistent in their condemnation of this development and have always publicly stated that once one “factory” is built, they are likely to spread to anywhere in the region (and beyond). This has now been confirmed officially by representatives of the consortium planning to build the turbines on their land. Last week we saw headlines in the press stating “Now wind turbines may hit a wider area”. The representative from the consortium (Bruce Pittingale) went on to say “The wind farm company has now been inundated by enquiries from sympathetic land owners who wish to add their interest to building turbines / meaning turbines may now be spread to wider area” This is what FLAT has been warning about all along so please bear in mind that although this proposal is currently centred around the Marshland St James area - A turbine could now be coming to a field near you!!! Please come to the meeting to both get yourselves informed and show solidarity in our opposition to these turbines. Lyndon Mason |
