PRESS RELEASE 15th March 2008DEVELOPERS SNUB MARSHLAND ST JAMES YET AGAIN So, just when it looked like Marshland St James would finally be able to have its say on the new proposal for a nineteen turbine wind power factory, the developers have denied them their say at the eleventh hour. This really is a serious snub for the village and while the developers claim that it was for “Health and Safety” reasons, many people are of the opinion that what they are really frightened of is the actual result of their consultation process! Despite the developers “running away” from, their consultation commitment, members of FLAT remained in the MSJ village hall car park to talk to the almost two hundred people who turned up but were denied their democratic right to engage in consultation with the developers. If anyone from the developers wishes to contact FLAT we are happy to pass on the feeling of the people that turned up. This can be summarised as frustration and incredulity at the event being cancelled and an almost unanimous opposition to the development. We obviously do not know the true reasons why they cancelled the event but the “official line” as given by their resident clown Mr Robinson, was that it was due to vandalism at the house of a member of the consortium by “anti wind farm protestors”. We at FLAT hope that Robinson is not going to add to his long line of already slanderous remarks against FLAT by trying to imply that FLAT had anything to do with the alleged vandalism. I would again publicly say to Mr Robinson that if you have any evidence against FLAT, then the police, not the Press are the correct people to contact. I would also like to take this opportunity to demand a public apology from Mr Robinson for remarks he made to the Wisbech Standard accusing FLAT members of intimidation and abusing members of the public at the Outwell and Emneth consultation events. Again, I would ask him to provide evidence for his claims. Perhaps members of the public who attended these events would like to write to the press, consultants and consortium members with their views of how these events were conducted and the so called intimidation by FLAT. FLAT will be holding its own consultation event at 7PM in the Marshland St James Jubilee Hall on Tuesday the 25th of March. Perhaps the developers might like to supply FLAT with few hundred of their consultation forms and we will ask people who attend our meeting to fill them in. For further details please visit our website on www.flat-group.co.uk and register your e-mail to enable you to receive regular updates. We look forward to seeing you at the Jubilee Hall on the 25th of March. The FLAT Committee |
